2017 Make Up Trends

Going into 2017 you will see less and less of the full on glam and more of a natural vibe. I for one could not be more excited that we are heading into this world. It's definitely right up my ally. Here are some tips of what you should kick to the curb and what you should invest in going into the new year.

Face-

We are moving away from full coverage matte looks and into something more natural and glowy. Put down your heavy foundation and save it for more special occasions. On a daily, pick up a light weight tinted moisturizer. It's okay to show a little imperfection. My goal this year is to focus on skin care so that I don't feel the need to cover so much up.

We are also moving away from the heavily contoured look. It seems to me we took a break from blush for a minute but you will want to stock up for a trend on the rise call "draping". It is similar to contouring but all you need is blush. Learn more on the technique here - draping.

As for highlighting, we will see less heavy powder and more subtle cream highlighter for a dewier finish.

Eyes-

The 2016 winged liner will be made more modern. Think thin, and just the tiniest tail on that cat eye. Or go without liquid liner at all. For eye shadow, grab shades of taupe and bronze. And what I'm most excited for, less false lashes- more effortless looks. Like just mascara. One of my new favorites for mascara is Super Hero from It Cosmetics.

Brows-

You can retire your brow pomade. The exaggerated "Instagram brow" arches will become dated and full natural brows will be the new go to. Use a brow gel to enhance what you have. A tip for brow gel is brushing your hairs up for a fuller more disheveled look.

Lips-

Ditch the matte liquid lips and go more natural. It was fun while it lasted but now we are moving on to stains, sheer and satin finishes. Doesn't this all sound so much easier anyway?

Overall, think effortless, easy, glowy and natural. Who doesn't want that?

Katie
